It’s the invasion of the Purple Potatoes-run for your life!

Just kidding.

I love brightly colored vegetables.  Being an information hound and an avid gardener, I usually know about unique vegetables long before they become mainstream.

Carrots (did you know that originally carrots were purple, red and white?),

and I couldn’t resist a picture of purple gnocchi!

And there are so many others.  Some I have grown, some I have the seeds to grow and most of them I eat when I can.  Looking at these pictures has made me anxious to start my garden.

What kind of unique vegetable, fruit do you like?

Ahh, thank you. I’m not sure if it is a blessing or a curse, but that’s me.

By the way – a long time ago I mentioned this place and I keep meaning to get the site to you: http://www.tintagelbythesea.com/

If you ever have a chance to stay there – it is to DIE FOR. Just bear in mind it is 57 steps from where you park to the top floor. !

Thank you so much for thinking of me! Bandon is one of our very favorite beaches. (You probably knew that.) No problem… I usually take the steps in hotels, etc.

Yeah, I think that’s why I wanted to share the link. I haven’t been there in years, but think of it often. Hmmmm, maybe it’s time for a road trip!

What do we “call” these days (instead of shotgun…)?

When someone is going for a ride in the car (or on a road trip), they yell “Shotgun!” to claim the front window seat.

Oh yea, duh. Well, you yelled shotgun first – so that would be you! (Besides the dog gets the entire back seat!)

It dawned on me while I was writing the post and gathering pictures that the fruits and vegetables I take for granted as being common/normal to me – may not be to others. I would love to see pictures of other types of fruits and vegetables.

I thought the same when I visited Venezuela , not long ago…..
Here in Italy we only have ordinary vegetables and fruit , or, at least ,they have already been photographed …..and published!

You are probably right! Do you grow any vegetables? Oh, check your in-box for an e-mail from me!

That counts. When I lived in San Francisco, I had access to a fire escape. So I would plant my vegetable in flower pots. It would be a mix of lettuce, green beans, peas, herbs and some other things. I have some pictures that I can try to copy and put in a post. It’s a bit late and I am having trouble staying awake! So, I will talk to you later.
