What do you do to get over the migraine? The only prescription I have ever tried is Sumatriptan. It makes me very sick for about 2 hours. Then the migraine and the side effects are gone. I’m going to my dr. on Thursday. What medicines have you tried? What works for you? I am open to suggestions. Don’t forget to tell me what you experience when you take the medicine.
Thank you for your help!
Can’t be much help with meds or remedies as I’ve never really had a problem with migraines, but I hope you find some good solutions quickly! In leiu of advice, I’ll send some positive energy your direction, how’s that sound?
Perfect! I never underestimate the power of positive energy. Thank you.
Sadly I don’t have an answer, I turned on the computer now to try to fnd a solution to menstral migraines / hormonal headaches. I get headaches which last for 3 days with no reprive. Last night I was in bed and asleep at 8.30pm and woke with the pain again. I’m wondering if I should try a homeopath
Oh, those are horrible. I used to get those too. My dr. took me off b/c and that helped a lot. Medicine is definitely the way to go, it’s just a matter of finding the right one. I don’t know if a homeopath would work. Most migraines are triggered. It’s not like having a cold. Homeopathy takes a long time and is good for helping the body build up an immunity to something. I’ve heard botox works and I do have this little wrinkle……….
Sorry can’t help you…. But I want you to know that I’ m near you !
Ahhhh, thank you. It does make me feel better to know you are there.
I had this from a friend of mine who had bad migraines – I asked him for another friend and I copy his response Here:
prescribed by a client (who was an MD with cluster migraines like mine & self-experimenting) was the wierd
synergy of a low dose of Elavil (anti-depresant?) AND Indurol (believe its a blood-thinner for cardiac patients?)
twice a day. 10 years of hell trying ergotamines &painkillers etc–and this treatment–for reasons inexplicable–
cured me completely in 8 weeks, never needed to take the meds after that –and never had one since 1985.
Thank you! I will ask my dr. about this. I figure anything has got to be better than nothing.
Hope it helps – probably pretty unorthodox, but you read what he wrote. Compliment: your writing is terrific!
Thank you for the compliment! I enjoy writing and dearly wish I could make a living at it. My horoscope for this year says that my writing will have a big impact on my life this year. Isn’t that something? I only read the horoscope when it comes out the first of the year, then I save it and forget it. This time I’m having trouble forgetting it (for some reason I think that is part of the magic for making something happen!).
As for your friend’s solution – my motto is “you never know until you ask”.
Thank you again!
Ah, I used to be an astrologer….
Wow – aren’t you glad economy is getting better?
Okay… how did you get there? Oh, maybe thinking it is a recent thing? No, I came to a full stop when I realized people were not leaving their houses unless I said it was safe to do so…. For me, astrology is a tool – you come to a fork in the road. Your instinct says “go left,” but if you knew what was on the right, you might prefer to go right… We have free will, but only if you’re willing to exercise it.
Wow. You must be really good. What a depressing thing to have happen. I had my chart done once, a long time ago. I might even still have it. But I don’t think I really understood it.
Oh where were you when my instinct said to go left?
Hello, want to help you. When I have migraine I take 1 Tablet Naramig – Naratriptan.
Perhaps you get it in your country.
Regards magdalena
Hi Magdalena
Thank you so very much. It looks like it is in the same family of the one I currently take “…triptan.” I know my medicine works, I just don’t like the side effects even though I know it will only be two hours. Sometimes I would rather just deal with the migraines!
I am a migraine sufferer, but after having numerous prescriptions which I felt made he suffering even worse (due to nausea etc) I just live on over the counter meds and dark rooms. March is my worst month for them. In fact, I had one yesterday! I hope you find something that helps you!
Wow, you even have a time of year? That’s intense. I have triggers and I think I know most of them – but that seems like nothing compared to a whole month. Well, I ended up having back to back, I’m not sure if the second one was a rebound or not. I hate that. I hope you are feeling much better and are migraine free for the rest of the month.
Oh thank you ~ I hope you are migraine free as well! Mine are the worst when the barometer fluctuates often in March! Feel better! xo
