Weekly Photo Challenge: Lost in the Details

This one sounds fun and I think I have something that fits the bill.

I pass by this tree going to and from the house.  It appears healthy and it always seems to have a woodpecker or two on it’s trunk.  It stands alone on the corner of conjoining driveways.

I get a kick out of looking at it because of all the holes.

The above 3 were taken out of the window of my car.

However, one day I decided to get real good look at the tree and this is what I found:

Isn’t that just too fun?  Look at all those acorns.  I’d love to capture the entire process, from woodpecker hole making to the squirrel stuffing the acorn.  I need one of those time lapse camera things – right?

Thanks for the pingback! Love your pictures, they are so cute!

I was looking at a Las Guayacanes tree here the other day and noticed a bunch of holes also. The only difference was it was supporting a colony of ants. It’s such a hardy tree. This time of year it loses all it’s leaves but has beautiful pink flowers!

And now I think I’ve given you a Panama flag for your collection!

Cool – thanks for the flag! You are welcome for the pingback and the compliment about the picture. Sounds like your tree is a treat for bug eaters. I’d love to see a pic of your tree with the flowers. Do you have one posted on your blog? Thank you for stopping by!

I’ll be taking some pics for the latest challenge. I’ll try and include a picture of one of the trees since our street is named after them. The last few days the winds have been pretty brutal on them though and they’re all looking a little ratty! :(

Oh that is wonderful – I am very curious and can’t wait to see your pics! Stay safe, wind can be a sneaky bugger!
